OK, it does appear that these lads have set up this company for love of cars rather than customer service but their aim is to get you on the road in a well loved and magnificent classic car. Had the Morris Minor, super fun, sorted all the paperwork last minute for me (my fault) and we were off driving. Couldn't endorse more for weddings or sports driving days.

Worst customer service and car was not road safe – avoid this company!
Long story short: awful customer service, car in very bad condition, not road safe.

    Full review:

Booked a series 1 E-Type many month in advance for a 2 weeks’ holiday (I’m from Switzerland, so just visiting, please excuse my English, it’s far from perfect…). They told me to pay the full amount in advance, which I did. Then, I have not heard anything from them. A couple of days before the date, I called to ask if everything was ok. The car was off the road, no MOT. Lot’s of welding to do. When the heck did you want to inform me, the customer? I was offered a yellow V12 S3 E-Type, and T&C says I could to take it or leave it and get a ‘voucher’. (it was a 2000 GBP rental!).

Then the situation got a bit out of control from my customer perspective. Picked up the car, the only things I was told was: Here’s 5 litre of oil, the car uses lots of oil, please top up every morning, it’s very important. No word about cooler fluid, break fluid, choke etc. I own a couple of vintage cars with carburetors myself, so I know how to start a car with a choke. If you’ve never done this before, you maybe should first watch a youtube video for instructions. The carbs are so badly adjusted that it took me several minutes every morning to start the car in cold conditions.

I was also told by Ben (employee) that it get’s terribly hot in the car. The engine is directly above your legs, you know. Ben! If you switch off the heating and the fan, it’s perfect in the car. It’s the lever on the passenger side, pull both levers towards you and you’re perfectly fine.

I did not expect a councours car but the condition should be acceptable.
A couple of things that are really bad and the first three issues make the car not road safe:

-Handbrake does not work. I used a stone under the rear wheel to avoid the car rolling off when parked on hills or to damage the gearbox with leaving it in ‘’P’’

-speedo does not work, it jumps from 30-60 when doing 40-50. You never know what speed your doing. Plus, the odo and tripmeter do not work.

-Driver side footwell carpet slips under the pedals. Very dangerous, when breaking, the pedal does not go down because it’s blocked by a crumpled carped. I just threw it on the back seat.
    Annoying, cosmetic, or both:

-Tried to check the cooler fluid, cap fell into pieces: The top cover fell off, the spring was loose and the lower cover was stuck. So, no chance to check the fluid.

-driver seat has a 5x5 inch hole, each time you get out of the car, you have yellow, sticky foam rubber pieces from the padding that stick on your trousers.

-Window winders could do with some grease, they are super heavy to wind up (not a rocket science job to fix, is it?)

-No papers at all with the car (not necessary they say)

Oil consumption around 0.5 litre a day. Usual morning celebration was:

    -open hood and check oil

-top up oil (about 0.2-0.4 litre)

-wait about 10 minutes until oil until oil settles in oil pan

-check oil again and if necessary top up another 0.2-0.3 litre

Took us 20-30 minutes every morning. I should charge them for that labour… I had to buy another 5 litres of oil after 10 days. I managed to find a shop that had 20w50 vintage car oil (Ben from the ‘company’ said any 20w50 oil is fine, but any vintage car owner knows that’s totally different quality and not good for the engine!)

Returning the car, we had discussions about a dent in the rear bumper, but that’s a lawsuit that my lawyer says I should NOT go into details in the world wide web yet. So, I don’t. Just make sure you read the CDW conditions carefully, you have a lot of time when returning the car and don’t hesitate to call the police if necessary.

I absolutely can confirm Jim Cox’ review with the summary that describes it best: wrong on every level, rude, monosyllabic, disinterested, unapologetic, incompetent.

I’m sure Graham will respond with a lengthy defensive opinion now as he usually does (see other reviews here…)

Do yourself a favour and don't rent from them!
